Due to extreme weather conditions, Southern California Edison on Saturday evening shut off power in the Gaviota area of Santa Barbara County as part of the power company’s Public Safety Power Shut-off.
The affected area includes unincorporated areas west of Goleta and Gaviota to Point Conception. As of Saturday evening, there was no estimated restoration time and power will be restored as conditions improve, crews conduct inspections and determine it is safe to re-energize the lines, according to officials.
Several areas continue to be monitored for a potential shutoff, including unincorporated areas near Gaviota and Las Flores Canyon.
“SCE is deploying a Community Outreach Vehicle equipped with backup power so that customers can charge their personal mobile devices and continue to receive updates about the outage,” officials said in a news release.
The vehicle will be stationed from 7 a.m. to midnight today at Girsh Park, 7050 Phelps Road.
