
Was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 25, 1948 and died on July 13, 2013 at Serenity House in Santa Barbara, California. He was the son of the late Charles R. and Mildred A. Rawlins. He grew up in Maryland and Texas. He served time in the US Navy during the Viet-Nam War and was on the USS Corral Sea. He graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in cartography. He was a life-long self-educator and also obtained an associate’s degree in film making from City College in Santa Barbara. He loved to travel and had been to every state in the union as well as many countries in Europe. He lived for many years in Boulder and Nederland, CO. He is a direct descendant of Mayflower pilgrim Stephen Hopkins.
He was a prolific artist and painted subjects that expressed his unique mind. He loved life but his was cut short by cancer.
He is survived by ex-wife, Jackie Rawlins Upton and son David Paul Rawlins of Arlington, TX as well as ex-wife Jennifer Wilson of Boston, MA. In addition he leaves brother, William Rawlins and sister-in-law Cathy Rawlins of View, TX; brother Kenneth Rawlins of Rowlett, TX, sister Kathleen Bernstein and brother-in-law David Bernstein of Wayland, MA. He also left a neice, Ginger Rawlins of TX and two nephews, Jon and Brian Bernstein of NYC. He was such a character that he will be missed by all who knew him.
