SANTA BARBARA Renée Zellweger is slated to receive the American Riviera Award from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. SBIFF announced Tuesday that the actress, singer and dancer, known for her roles in “Bridget Jones’s Diary” and “Chicago,” will be recognized for her past work and attributes to film. Ms. Zellweger’s recent works include her portrayal of actress, singer and dancer Judy Garland in the movie Judy as well as the Netflix miniseries “What/If.”
Ms. Zellweger will be joining a list of other recipients who have been recognized by SBIFF as those who have made a significant contribution to American Cinema. This list sports well-known players in the film industry such as Rachel McAdams, Quentin Tarantino, Sandra Bullock and Kevin Bacon.
The tribute will take place at the Arlington Theatre during the 35th SBIFF, scheduled to take place Jan. 15-25.
