Bunker Robles passed away peacefully after a long illness on March 20th. He was a Santa Barbara, CA resident for most of life. He served in the Army as a paratrooper from 1949 to 1951, he was very proud to serve our country. He was with the Local 12 International Union of Operating Engineers for 35 years.
After retiring he moved to Mammoth, CA with his companion Mary Razo of 30 years, where they spent 6 years enjoying fishing with their family and friends. Lompoc was their next residence until they settled in Carpinteria. Bunker and Mary loved RV camping and fishing with many trips back to Mammoth and Cachuma Lake where Bunker won the Grand Prize at the annual Trout Derby. Along with his passion for fishing was his annual hunting trip to the High Sierras along with family and friends.
Another passion was ATA trap shouting at Santa Ynez Valley Sportsman’s Association where he won several awards and never came home without a ham or turkey. He loved to cook and BBQ and made the best menudo. Bunker was preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe and Juana Robles, son Robert Robles, Grandson Martin Robles Jr., brothers Lawrence, Gilbert, Frank, and Sisters Valvena Crane, Mercedes Romero and Dorothy Navarro.
He is survived by his children Ruben Torres, Jimmy Robles (JoAnn), Linda Alvarado (Gus), Martie Robles (Deb), Lorna Fox (Lee), sister Juanita Vallejo, 17 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren and many Nephews and Nieces. Services will be held on April 2nd 10:00 am at Our Lady Of Sorrows 21 E Sola St., Santa Barbara CA. The family request that in luie of flowers donations be made the Santa Ynez Valley Sportsman’s Association SCTP youth program, PO Box 453, Santa Ynez, CA 93460.
