Peacefully passed away at his home in Nipomo, Ca on June 30, 2013 surrounded by his wife and children. He was born and raised in Santa Barbara, later lived in San Diego, then Bishop, Ca where he had his granite & tile business for 25 years. Upon retirement, he and Teri settled in Nipomo Ca. He is survived by his wife, Teri; children Tino, David and Nicole; step-children Tina, Joe and Diane; 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Carl and Barney.
Ernie loved to make people laugh, always had a quick-witted response, and no one was a stranger for long. Win or lose, he was a die-hard SD Charger fan who loved going to home games.
Whether in Alaska or the Eastern Sierra’s, Ernie was always ready to drop his line.
Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Santa Barbara at 10 am on Friday, July 12. A viewing will precede the mass at Welch-Ryce-Haider located next door to Our Lady of Sorrows Church from 8:30-9:30 am. Interment will immediately follow the mass as Calvary Cemetery, Santa Barbara. The family will host a reception at La Mesa Park, 295 Meigs Rd., following interment.
