
Passed from this life on Holy Thursday, March 28, 2013. He was born near Bryan, TX on July 11, 1930, to Luciano and Guillerma. The Sanchez family moved to Goleta in 1946.
As a teenager he was exposed to tuberculosis and went to live in the SB County Sanitarium for 5 years. While there, he contracted meningitis and during recovery lost his hearing. He remained deaf throughout his life. He worked for the Goleta Lemon Association, spending over 30 years in the orchards. His appreciation for the land extended after retirement as he kept vegetable gardens and fruit trees at several homesteads from Santa Barbara to Lompoc and finally Santa Maria.
He was a faithful Dodger fan and enjoyed watching football games, as well as riding his bike around the neighborhood. For his 80th birthday he tried very hard to break his pinata and hiked up to see Nojoqui Falls. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Mary Gutierrez and Irma Barbee.
He is survived by his sisters Lupe Jauregui and Anita Loredo, brother John (Barbara), and brother in law Charley Barbee. He also leaves behind dozens of nieces and nephews. He had a playful sense of humor and was a beloved brother and uncle who will be missed every day.
Funeral 9:00 a.m., Saturday April 20, Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Internment following at Calvary Cemetery.
