SANTA BARBARA The Santa Barbara Region Chamber of Commerce named the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum the nonprofit of the year.
According to a news release published on Thursday, the Chamber announced the award at the 12th Annual Regional Business Awards Luncheon on February 12.
The museum is located at 113 Harbor Way, Suite 190. A group of fishermen, divers, and sailors founded the museum in 2000. They envisioned a place where the public could learn about Santa Barbara’s maritime culture and resources.
The museum partners with schools throughout the county and provides museum access to Title I schools at a reduced rate or at no charge. More than 40,000 people visit the Museum every year.
