The Santa Barbara High football team is set to take on Sunny Hills in the CIF-SS Division 8 finals, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at San Marcos High School.
Both teams enter the contest with a record of 11-2 on the season. Santa Barbara broke its 30-year playoff victory drought in the first round of the playoffs and hasn’t looked back. After its 44-0 thrashing of Gahr in the opening round, Santa Barbara beat Palm Desert 42-32 Nov. 15 before defeating Palmdale 37-15 Friday night. The Golden Tornado, riding an eight-game winning streak, enter the game as the No. 2 ranked team in the Division 8 rankings, according to MaxPreps.
The Lancers have won five straight and are the top ranked team in Division 8. They defeated Tustin 21-14 in the opening round before beating Notre Dame 49-24 Nov. 15. Sunny Hills came from behind to defeat Trabuco Hills 31-27 Friday night, scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter to advance to the final.
Tickets for the game will be $12 for adults and $5 for students with IDs. There are no senior discounts and kids under 4 can enter free.
