SANTA MARIA The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department is offering activities to celebrate Parks Make Life Better Month, the department announced in a news release.
The event include:
• Free Movies in the Park: The movie “Selena” will be shown on July 13 at Grogan Park, 1155 W. Rancho Verde. The movie “The House With A Clock In Its Walls” will be shown on July 27, at Armstrong Park, 1000 E. Chapel Street.
• Free Concerts in the Park: A concert from the rock and roll band Unfinished Business on July 14 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Rotary Centennial Park on 2625 S. College Drive, while Drive-In Romeros will be there on July 28.
• Free Swim Day: Paul Nelson Aquatics Center will be free from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 28.
• Kids aged 6 through 12 will have free lunch and recreation activities at the Safe and Strong All Summer Long program at parks Monday through Friday, 11: a.m. to 3 a.m.
• 12-17 year olds have events at Oakley Park, 1300 N. Western Avenue on July 24 and at Tunnel Park, 1100 North Palisade Drive, on July 31.
