SANTA BARBARA The city collected approximately $1.18 million in transient occupancy taxes in December, an increase of 2.2 percent over the last comparable December, in 2016, officials said.
The figure was also 39.7 percent above December 2017, when the Thomas Fire severly depressed tourism, according to a news release.
Transient occupancy tax, also known as bed tax, is charged on stays in hotel and motel rooms.
The city has collected approximately $10.7 million in TOT revenues through the first six months of this fiscal year, which runs from July 1 through June 30. The city’s adopted TOT budget is $19,605,700.
