SANTA BARBARA The city of Santa Barbara collected approximately $2.38 million in transient occupancy tax for July 2019, which is 2.9 percent above July of last year.
July is the first month of the city’s 2020 fiscal year, which runs through June 30, 2020. The city’s adopted TOT budget is $19,989,179, according to a news release.
Transient occupancy tax, also known as bed tax, is charged on short-term rentals, at hotels and motels.
In fiscal year 2019, the city collected $19,511,920 in TOT tax, which represented a 3.9 percent increase from fiscal year 2018.
