The Santa Barbara City Council today will consider a pair of contracts for park renovation projects — one for the Cabrillo Pavilion and another for the Arroyo Burro open space area — as well as a professional services agreement for design work for the Ortega Park renovation project.
The council will be asked in its meeting today to amend a contract for construction services with Pacific Materials Laboratory Inc. in the amount of $12,000 for the Cabrillo Pavilion renovation. Additional material testing and site visits are required, and unforeseen conditions resulted in additional structural inspection.
If approved, the total project cost of the project will be $20,311,957, which includes more than $1 million for design and more than $18 million in construction, according to a staff report.
Also today, the council will be asked to authorize an agreement for the second phase of the Arroyo Burro open space restoration project. This phase of the project will restore drainage that is a tributary to the beach.
The project will include trail improvements and a pedestrian bridge over the creek that will connect park visitors to Las Positas Road and the planned multi-use path. The professional service agreement with Waterways Consulting Inc. is for $151,891, according to a staff report.
Final design plans for that project could be complete by November and constructions bids may be complete by April 2020.
The council also will consider a professional services agreement with RRM Design Group for the preliminary design of the Ortega Park renovation project.
The proposed park renovations include a multi-sport artificial turf field and artificial lighting, a skate park, a playground and family picnic area, new fencing, a new recreational swimming pool with a waterslide, and a new activity area that features basketball, table tennis and other games.
The proposed contract is for $228,435 and, if approved, the design is expected to be completed by November.
All three park projects are part of Tuesday’s consent calendar. The meeting is set for 2 p.m. at City Hall, 735 Anacapa St.
