SANTA BARBARA In response to the county’s declaration of a local health emergency in Santa Barbara, all Santa Barbara Public Library locations will be closed effective today through at least April 5.
“We made this decision to support the overall health and wellness of our communities and for the safety of our patrons and staff. It was a difficult decision, as we care deeply about serving the public,” Library Director Jessica Cadiente said in a news release. “During this temporary closure, we will continue to provide reference and information services.”
Library staff is available via telephone during all open hours at 805-962-7653. An online chat service is also open at www.sbplibrary.org/librarychat.
Material due dates will be extended to April 6. Exterior book drops will remain open.
Also on Friday, officials with the city of Goleta announced that library programs have been suspended at the Goleta, Buellton and Solvang libraries until the end of April and all libraries will be closed until further notice.
