SANTA BARBARA The Santa Barbara Unified School District has announced that Cailean Kilroy Villasenor will be the new assistant principal at Santa Barbara High School.
Ms. Villaseñor has taught physical and life sciences at Santa Barbara Junior High since 2012. She also served as the district’s secondary teaching integration coach since 2017, SBHS Principal Elise Simmons wrote in a notice to parents.
Ms. Villaseñor is also an adjunct professor at Westmont College.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the students, families and staff at Santa Barbara High School,” Ms. Villaseñor, an alumnus of Santa Barbara High, said in a statement. “SBHS provided me with a strong education and fond memories, and I am proud to be returning to the SBHS campus in this new capacity. I look forward to working with the students to help shape their futures for success and contributing to carrying on the strong traditions of this great school. Go Dons!”
She began her new role July 10.
District Superintendent Cary Matsuoka said Ms. Villaseñor will be an excellent addition to the staff at SBHS.
“Her background will be highly valuable as we continue to identify best practices for integrating technology into teaching and learning at Santa Barbara High and across the district.
