SANTA BARBARA Four actors are receiving the Santa Barbara International Film Festival Virtuosos Award for their performances in 2019 films: Awkwafina in “The Farewell,” Taron Egerton in “Rocketman,” Florence Pugh in “Midsommar,” and Taylor Russell in “Waves.”
“Awkwafina, Taron, Florence and Taylor are four of the most exciting rising talents and they’re all breaking through in a major way this year,” said entertainment host Dave Karger, who will moderate the award event. “I can’t wait to see all of them, plus our yet-to-be-announced honorees, up in Santa Barbara.”
The four will receive the award on Jan. 18 at the Arlington Theatre during the 35th SBIFF, which takes place Jan. 15 through 25.
Last year’s recipients of the Virtuosos Award were Yalitza Aparicio, Sam Elliott, Elsie Fisher, Claire Foy, Richard E. Grant, Thomasin McKenzie, John David Washington and Steven Yuen
