Dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Erna was born in Romania in May 1924. The oldest of 7 children. During the war, on the Black Sea she met the love of her life, George Schmutzer, and they will remain together for eternity. Erna died peacefully in her daughter’s home in Santa Barbara on Feb. 16, 2013.
Erna has two daughters, Petra Console of Medford, Oregon, and Barbara Schmutzer of Santa Barbara, and four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Erna was the best cook, and gardener, and the sweetest woman in the world. She will be missed by all who knew her. Your spirit will be with us forever Mama. A private service will be scheduled in the near future.
