A second suspect has been arrested in a New Year’s Day stabbing that left two people injured, police said.
Alberto Morelos Pablo, 18, of Santa Maria, was arrested Friday and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, auto theft and criminal street gang enhancement. He is being held on $100,000 bail, according to a Santa Maria Police Department news release.
Around 2:13 a.m. Jan. 1, police received a call of several subjects fighting in the area of Boone and Thornburg streets. Two victims were located, including one who suffered stab wounds and was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The other victim suffered a head injury and was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center by ground ambulance. Both victims have since been released from the hospital.
On Jan. 3, police announced the arrest of 18-year-old Eduardo Garcia Barrueta. He was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and a criminal street gang enhancement.
