Managers look for signs that their ball club is playing their best baseball when it counts.
And Santa Barbara Foresters skipper Bill Pintard is liking what he is seeing.
On the backs of 18 strikeouts by the pitching staff and 11 hits by the offense, the Foresters wrapped up their home schedule with an 11-2 victory over the Coastal Cubs on Wednesday evening at Pershing Park.
Zach Presno hit his sixth home run of the summer, one of his two hits on the afternoon. Jacob Katzfey and Tommy Holguin both had two hits as well.
Presno had a trio of RBIs, while Isaac Coffey added two.
The Foresters utilized eight pitchers against the Cubs, with Nico O?Donnell earning the win with a scoreless inning of relief. Kevin Larson struck out the side in sixth inning, while Jake Jackson struck out three of the four outs he secured.
Santa Barbara finishes the regular season with a 30-9 overall record, going 26-9 in the California Collegiate League play. Due to their dominance in league play, the Foresters earned a bye into the CCL championship at 4:30 p.m. Friday. The winner of that game will move into a three-game series for the state championship on Saturday in Thousand Oaks.
