BUELLTON Seven people were injured, including one person who suffered critical injuries, in a single-vehicle rollover crash late Wednesday on northbound Highway 101 just north of Buellton, authorities said.
Santa Barbara County Fire Department crews were dispatched to the area at 11:42 p.m. Upon arrival, units found the vehicle on its side with all occupants having removed themselves from the wreckage with “varying degrees of injury,” said Capt. Daniel Bertucelli, fire spokesman.
A level one Mass Casualty Incident was declared and additional resources were sent to the scene. The victim who suffered critical injuries was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital via Cal Star helicopter.
Three people suffered moderate injuries and three others suffered minor injuries. Those patients were transported by ground ambulance to local hospitals for treatment, Capt. Bertucelli said.
Northbound 101 was closed for a time following the crash. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
