GOLETA A Goleta man was arrested Wednesday after he was found to be in possession of black tar heroin and methamphetamine, authorities said.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop involving 43-year-old Omar Alfaro-Rios Wednesday in the 7400 block of Hollister Avenue. Authorities located approximately one pound of heroin worth an estimated street value of $16,000 secreted in Mr. Alfaro-Rios’ waistband. He also had a small amount of methamphetamine in one his pants pockets, said Kelly Hoover, sheriff’s spokeswoman.
Following the stop, detectives served a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Big Sur Drive in Goleta. Authorities located items consistent with sales and trafficking of narcotics including cellophane wrapping, a scale with heroin residue on it and several bank cards, Ms. Hoover said.
Mr. Alfaro-Rios was arrested on suspicion of possession for sales of a controlled substance, transportation of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute and possession of a controlled substance. He is being held on $30,000 bail.
