SANTA MARIA Three people were cited during a “Shoulder Tap” operation held Saturday in the city of Santa Maria, police said.
During the operation, a minor decoy, under the direct supervision of officers, attempts to get people to purchase an alcoholic beverage from ABC licensed establishments within the city. A total of 13 people were contacted, with three purchasing alcohol for the decoy. All three suspects were arrested on charges of furnishing an alcoholic beverage for a minor, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.
In addition, one subject contacted was found to have a felony warrant and was arrested. One subject had a misdemeanor warrant and was taken into custody and two people were cited for driving without a driver’s license.
The programs, funded by the California Alcoholic Beverage Control grant, are aimed at reducing the availability of alcoholic beverages to minors.
