Traffic lanes have been reopened on the recently completed side of the Casitas Pass overcrossing and the new sidewalk on the west side of the bridge opened Friday.
The work is part of the Linden and Casitas Pass project to widen Highway 101 in Carpinteria. The project is now in its third phase, with construction expected to run through the spring, according to Caltrans.
The northbound 101 onramp at Linden Avenue will be closed as needed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for gutter work by the new sound wall. The southbound offramp at Linden Avenue remains closed until early next year.
Via Real from Hales Lane to Vallecito is temporarily closed as crews build the new Via Real connection. The new northbound onramp at Linden Avenue is open, while crews continue to work on the new roundabout in the area.
New drainage improvements are being installed along southbound 101 between Franklin Creek and Casitas Pass Road.
The $60 million construction project is funded by state and federal taxes. The project is a partnership between Caltrans, the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments and the city of Carpinteria.
