SANTA BARBARA Two people have been arrested and are facing attempted murder charges in connection with a fight that took place Friday afternoon on the city’s Westside, police said.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. March 27, police received multiple 911 calls reporting several males fighting in the vicinity of San Andres and Sola streets. When officers arrived, no involved parties were located, said Anthony Wagner, spokesman for the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Officers later discovered one victim several blocks away. A second victim was driven to the hospital. Both victims, described as Santa Barbara residents, suffered “what appeared to be stab wounds,” Mr. Wagner said.
On Saturday, 22-year-old Christian Menth and 18-year-old Miguel Ascencio were arrested. Both men were booked on suspicion of conspiracy and attempted murder for the benefit of a criminal street gang. The suspects were booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail, with each being held on $600,000 bail.
