BUELLTON Two people were arrested Wednesday in Buellton on felony vehicle theft charges in connection with a vehicle stolen from Isla Vista, authorities said.
At approximately 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, authorities issued a be-on-the-lookout alert from the California Highway Patrol for a stolen vehicle. At 1:37 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on patrol in Buellton received a LoJack alert that the vehicle was nearby. The white Audi SUV was located in the area of Thumbelina Drive and Odense Street and two suspects ran from the vehicle, said Raquel Zick, spokeswoman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
Jeffrey Stoltz, 59, of Buellton, was quickly detained. County Air Support, Sheriff’s K9 and CHP K9 units also responded to set up a containment area for the second suspect, 53-year-old Sean Lynn, of Goleta. Mr. Lynn was located by Sheriff’s deputies and K9 Duke in the backyard of a home in the 400 block of Kendale Road. A records check revealed Mr. Lyn had an outstanding felony no-bail warrant for a violation of post-release community supervision for assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, Ms. Zick said.
Mr. Stoltz was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicle theft, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and destruction of evidence, both misdemeanors. Mr. Lynn was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of felony vehicle theft and the no-bail warrant.
