SANTA BARBARA The Romero Canyon Creek and Toro Canyon Creek Bridges on State Route 192 have now re-opened. According to a Caltrans press release, these bridges that were rebuilt following the Jan. 9 debris flows reopened at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, with protective barriers until bridge rails are installed.
Construction is currently underway on four other bridges, three of which have yet to re-open. The Montecito Creek bridge is expected to re-open with some traffic restrictions in July and construction continues on it seven days a week between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Bridge rail work on the San Ysidro Creek Bridge is finished with work on crash cushions and guard rails in progress. It is expected to complete construction by the end of March.
The precast bridge for the rebuilt Arroyo Paredon Bridge has been installed with bridge railing and deck surface nearly completed. It is expected to re-open to traffic in mid-February and be fully completed by the end of March.
Although roadway and utility work on the Toro Creek Bridge is ongoing, the bridge is open with one-way reversing traffic control. All lanes are expected to open by June.
