
Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the Nov. 18 home invasion robbery in Isla Vista, authorities said.
Gavin Rapin, 18, of San Francisco, and a minor whose identity was withheld, were arrested Friday in San Francisco. Authorities said the two suspects held the victims at gunpoint during the home invasion.
Santa Barbara County sheriff’s detectives authored arrest warrants and three search warrants that were served in San Francisco with the assistance of the San Francisco Police Department, Raquel Zick, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Department, said in a news release.
The search warrants were served at the homes of each of the suspects and at the home of the registered owner of the vehicle that was used to flee the area after the robbery, though the owner of the vehicle was not arrested, Ms. Zick said.
Mr. Rapin was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of residential burglary, false imprisonment, robbery, conspiracy to commit a crime and kidnapping for the purpose of robbery.
The minor was booked into Santa Maria Juvenile Hall on suspicion of residential burglary, false imprisonment, robbery, criminal threats and conspiracy to commit a crime.
The robbery occurred around 10:22 a.m. Nov. 18 in the 6500 block of Sabado Tarde. The suspects stole two laptops, a cellphone, a wallet and an unknown amount of marijuana. One of the victims suffered minor injuries and the other was not injured, Ms. Zick said.
On Nov. 22, 21-year-olds Heyaw Meteke and Jewad Hebbar, both of Isla Vista, were arrested in connection with the robbery. Mr. Meteke was arrested on suspicion of robbery and false imprisonment. Mr. Hebbar was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory.
