The Pac-12 is getting a good glimpse at UCSB’s standout pitching staff — and they aren’t liking it very much.
The Gauchos rode another stellar outing by lefty Zach Torra to a 4-0 victory over Oregon State on Saturday afternoon — with UCSB moving to 3-0 against the Pac-12 this week.
The Gauchos have won seven straight games, and clinched their fourth weekend series of the young season.
Torra struck out seven in moving to 3-0 on the season, with Conner Dand picking up the save with 2.2 innings of relief.
It was Dand’s second save of the season.
Oregon State has yet to score against the Gaucho pitching staff over 18 innings, with UCSB winning 6-0 on Friday night.
As a staff, UCSB is sporting a 1.83 ERA and a 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings through 14 games.
UCSB (12-2) clung to a 1-0 lead for the first seven innings, scoring in the third on a two-out triple by McClain O’Connor, scoring Nick Vogt, who had been hit by a pitch with two outs.
In the eighth, O’Connor factored in again, scoring on Cole Cummings’ double to left center.
The Gauchos added two insurance runs in the top of the ninth, with Vogt singling into right center to score Mason Eng and Steele Ledford.
UCSB will go for the sweep of the No. 25 Beavers at noon today, with sophomore right-hander Michael McGreevy taking to the hill.
McGreevy is 2-0 on the season with 0.42 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched.
