SANTA BARBARA A Santa Barbara man was arrested late Thursday on a pair of felony charges in connection with a domestic disturbance in the 1200 block of West Micheltorena Street, police said.
At approximately 2:40 p.m.Thursday, police were dispatched to the area on a report of a domestic disturbance in progress. Prior to officers arriving, a man, later identified as John Theodore, 56, got into a verbal altercation with a contractor doing work at the home, said Anthony Wagner, police spokesman.
“That disturbance spilled into the driveway of the home, during which time the tenant used his vehicle in a manner that resulted in assault with a deadly weapon allegations,” Mr. Wagner told the News-Press. “That was exacerbated by making criminal threats.”
Police surrounded the home and Mr. Theodore retreated to his studio at the rear of the residence. At 6:20 p.m., police obtained a search warrant and searched the residence along using a K-9 unit, but Mr. Theodore had fled the home. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., police were notified that Mr. Theodore had returned. Officers responded and Mr. Theodore was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats, both felonies. He was also arrested on misdemeanor allegations, police said.
