SANTA YNEZ The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help to keep the community safe following three residential burglaries this week in Santa Ynez.
On Tuesday, a homeowner in the 3600 block of Olive Street returned home from work and found the residence had been burglarized. A second person in the 1300 block of Refugio Road returned home and that items had been taken from their residence as well. In both cases, similar items were taken and the homes were accessed by an unlocked rear door, said Lt. Erik Raney, sheriff’s spokesman.
A third residential burglary in the 1100 block of Tyndall Street was reported Thursday. The residence was again accessed through an unlocked rear door and the modus operandi in the burglary was similar to the previous two, Lt. Raney said.
No suspects or vehicle information has been identified related to the crimes. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office Solvang station at 805-686-5000 during business hours. The public can also contact the non-emergency dispatch at 805-683-2724 after business hours. To leave an anonymous tip, visit www.sbsheriff.org/home/anonymous-tip/.
Residents who see suspicious activity are encouraged to report it to law enforcement.
“Note the license plate or physical description of suspicious vehicles or persons and lock your windows and doors when you leave,” Lt. Raney said.
