Was born January 25,1936 in Pasadena, Ca. He moved to Santa Barbara in 1959 and was owner of National Auto Glass of Santa Barbara until 1986 when he retired. Ed passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 25, 2013.
As a young man, he raced cars, rode broncos, married the love of his life. Wanted to be a rancher, a carpenter, but instead a glazier for his wife. An entrepreneur, a dad of three, his own shop on State street. He golfed, he played baseball, volleyball and shot pool. He played cards, rode in the Rockies on packed horses and mule. Learned to fly his plane, bought a motorcycle, joined the Elks.
A hunter of dove which we plucked and we ate. A duck club and labs led to another fate. Rowdy and Maude his black lab companions, led to training and field trials of intense competition. Played with salmon in the river, he fished and tied flies. He loved to go camping being out under the skies. He skied both mountain and lake, the love was a boat he called “Granny Goose” with her wake.
He has always been a self taught man, an adventurer, a man who went after his dreams. (This was part of a poem written for him by his daughter Irene for this past father’s day)
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rose Waters, his daughters Irene Waters, Cynthia (Steve) Wuoltee, and son-in-law Dale Graves. His grand daughters Jessica, Jennifer, Crystal, Alyson, and his grandsons Jake, Danny, David, Josh, and his great grandson Aldon. He was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Graves.
The family would like to thank the staff at Serenity House for all the wonderful care they provided. A memorial will be at a later date.
