
Of Los Olivos passed away suddenly April 9th. David was the son of Marian and J.N. Weaver and a native of Santa Barbara. He was a 1961 graduate of UCSB where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Scabbard and Blade, and both the tennis and water polo teams. After graduation David served in the Army as a First Lieutenant and became the Provost Marshall at the R & D Command in Natick, Massachusetts. Returning to California, David earned his Masters in Psychology at Cal Poly in 1967, and was a counselor for thirty-one years in the Santa Barbara High School system.
David met Barbara, his wife of fifty-one years at UCSB. In 1976 they moved from Santa Barbara to the Santa Ynez Valley where they raised their three daughters.
A lifelong hiking and camping enthusiast, David fulfilled his dream of becoming a backcountry forest ranger after his 2001 retirement from the school system. He served nearly ten years as a ranger in the Los Padres National Forest. He was a popular and familiar figure on the forest trails.
David is survived by his wife Barbara and three children, Leslie (Larry) Caton of Vandenberg Village, Karen (John) Raffo of Los Olivos, and Meredith (Scott) Armienti of Redwood City. He had six grandchildren: Cameron, Kaylin, Reese, Grace, Ella, and Matthew.
