Wesmont President Gayle D. Beebe and first lady Pam Beebe were recognized last Saturday at Spring Arbor University (SAU) in Michigan at the dedication of a new plaza on SAU’s campus named in the pair’s honor. Beebe Plaza commemorates Dr. Beebe’s seven-year tenure as SAU president (2000-2007).
During their time at SAU, Dr. and Mrs. Beebe spurred a period of growth and change for the University. Together, they helped nearly double the enrollment to 4,000 students, constructed 15 new buildings, and remodeled 11 others. On top of raising money for various projects, programs, and scholarships, Dr. and Mrs. Beebe also left the community more engaged and committed to the SAU concept.
“People come alongside, and they get involved in projects where they see passion and vision,” said Brent Ellis, SAU president, at the ceremony. “President Beebe did that extremely well.”
