Elizabeth passed peacefully at home with her family by her side after a long illness. She is now in the presence of God and her beloved husband Elmer.
Elizabeth was born on July 22, 1929 to her parents, Sebastian and Teresa Guadagnin, in Santa Barbara where she was raised. After she graduated from Santa Barbara High in 1947 she met the love of her life, Elmer, who was in the military and they were married in 1950. They had a full life together raising their two boys and traveling the world meeting and making new friends and seeing sights that some people would only dream of. Through the service they lived for a time in Japan and Turkey. After Elmer retired from the service they came back and made Santa Barbara their home.
Elizabeth loved family get-togethers, baking and various crafts, she loved animals and feeding the birds. She played the piano beautifully since she was a little girl. She was also quite the writer and loved walking everyday. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Elmer, and her parents and Brother Donald Guadagnin.
She is survived by her brother David Guadagnin (Nancy), her son, Gary Whitehair (Diane) and their children Danielle and David; also son Allen Whitehair (Mary) and their children Jeffrey Whitehair, Steven Whitehair (Shannon and daughter Cambria), Justin Aguirre (Melinda and children Mariah and Adley), and Nathan Aguirre. She was also very happy to be able to see her Great Grandaughter Cambria born on February 25th 2013.
There will be a Prayer Vigil / Rosary at Saint Raphael’s Church on Thursday at 7PM and Mass also at St. Raphael’s Church will be held on Friday at 10AM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Elizabeth Whitehair to St. Raphael’s Church 5444 Hollister Ave. Santa Barbara, CA 93111.
