The Happy Fire in Santa Ynez was stopped after about an hour.
SANTA YNEZ A small vegetation fire burned an estimated four acres Saturday afternoon in the 7000 block of Happy Canyon Road in Santa Ynez, authorities said.
The Happy Fire was reported around 2:15 p.m. Crews with the Los Padres National Forest were first on scene and found two to three acres burning in light to medium fuel. The fire was burning on ranch land near several structures and power lines were down in the area, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Several air units were dispatched, including an air tanker that assisted in establishing priorities for the nearby structures and a helicopter that assisted ground crews by making water drops.
The air units were released after about one hour when the fire’s forward progress was stopped. Incident command reported the fire had charred four acres, though the size may change after GPS tracking, officials said.
No structures were threatened by the blaze and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
