78, died peacefully on May 1, 2013, surrounded by his loving children, Lori W. Brown and Michael J. Wilson. John was born in Galesburg, IL, on August 28, 1934. He served in the Air National Guard and the U.S. Army where he trained in Communica-tions, then continued his education in electronic engineering. He married and moved to Santa Barbara in 1963.
John worked in broadcasting at KEYT TV in Santa Barbara for many years as Chief Engineer. He later moved to Cambria, CA, where he owned Turkey Productions Video Store. In 1995, he retired to Shingletown, CA, along with his son, Mike, and enjoyed developing his 10 acre ranch and working with the Foster Grandparent Program, volunteering in local elementary schools. John will long be remembered for his strength, courage and wonderful sense of humor by his children; other special loved ones, Mia Silva-Kelley and Sal Silva; grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Brown; and his niece Jan Dunham and nephew Larry Dysert. Private services will be held.
