Peter passed peacefully on July 26 at Hospice Serenity House after a six week struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Peter was born in New York City on December 5, 1937 to Helen and Ben Wisner. He graduated from Riverdale Country Day School in New York and earned his BA degree in Political Science from Brown University. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy for two years, then joined Merrill Lynch as a Stockbroker. During his 35 years with Merrill Lynch in the Manhattan and Santa Barbara offices, Peter received numerous awards.
Peter was a strong presence with a commanding voice. He will forever remain in the hearts and minds of his wife, Linda, daughters and their husbands; Marianne and Kendrick Royer, Shelly and Simon Machell, son Paul, and stepsons and their wives; Ross and Marianne Borden and Bill and Tina Borden. He leaves a younger sister, Gail and her husband Walter Bales. A special joy to Peter were his eight grandchildren; Katherine Royer, Grace and Harry Machell, Nicky and Casey Borden and Josie, Wells and Lulu Borden, ages three to eight.
The family thanks our faithful friends for their loving kindness and support as expressed through cards, messages and prayers during his illness. Also we thank his doctors and nurses at Cottage Hospital, the Cancer Center and the Caregivers at Serenity House for valiant efforts to save, treat and then give comfort to Peter.
If anyone would like to make a donation in Peter’s memory, please think of the Unity Shoppe where he enjoyed
volunteer work.
The family plans a memorial service at a future date at Elings Park. Call any of us if you would like to join the remembrance and celebration of Peter’s life.
