SANTA BARBARA A San Luis Obispo woman has died as a result of the injuries she suffered in a collision last week on Highway 101 just north of Las Caras Canyon Road.
The crash occurred around 1:13 p.m. Sept. 10. A Ford 350 driven by Garrett Stabb, of Tuscon, Arizona, was northbound on the 101 when he made a u-turn heading south and he collided with a Toyota truck driven by Austin Buist, 35, of San Luis Obispo, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One of the passengers in the Toyota, a 35-year-old woman whose name was withheld, succumbed to her injuries Sunday, the CHP said.
Mr. Staab suffered minor injuries. Mr. Buist suffered moderate injuries and another passenger, Tony Koehl, 43, of Covina, suffered major injuries.
Four-month-old Maverick Buist was not injured, the CHP said.
Friends of the family have set up a Target registry to help the family, while also working with various organizations to help locate breast milk, as Maverick has rejected the formula administered at the hospital.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing. Neither alcohol or drugs are suspected of being a factor, the CHP said.
