SANTA MARIA A Santa Maria woman died Friday afternoon after a fire broke out at her residence, authorities said.
The fire was reported at approximately 12:38 p.m., as police and fire personnel responded to the home in the 200 block of West Carmen Lane. When the fire was extinguished, a body was discovered in the residence, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.
The victim is described as a 65-year-old woman. Her identity was withheld pending next of kin notification.
