SANTA BARBARA Young artists of Santa Barbara were celebrated at the 5th annual Youth Art Poster Contest.
With more than 85 entries from first- through sixth-grade students, MTD employees voted on the winners who will have their artwork featured inside MTD buses for the next year, said Hillary Blackerby, MTD spokeswoman.
The first-grade through third-grade winners were: first place: Alexandria Duenas, second-grade, Aliso School; second place: Anisia Kourakis, second-grade, Adams Elementary School; third place: Mia Desales, second-grade, Isla Vista Elementary School; honorable mention: Sirena Guzik, first-grade, Monte Vista Elementary School.
The fourth-grade through sixth-grade winners were: first place: Emma Hayden, fifth-grade, Coastline Christian Academy; second place: Natalie and Lila Warren and Audrey Garfield, fifth-grade, Isla Vista Elementary School; third place: Sagarika Manian, sixth-grade, Ellwood Elementary School; honorable mention: Edward Perko, fourth-grade, Adams Elementary School.
The theme of the contest was “Celebration Buses” to recognize MTD’s 50th anniversary.
